Pinkie Cleugh Battlefield Walk
2017 marks the 470th anniversary of the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, and a number of events will celebrate the anniversary, including this guided walk over the site of the Battle in 1547.
The tour will start from the Roman Bridge over the River Esk in Musselburgh and take the route followed by the Scottish forces in the approach to their fateful encounter with the invading English Royal army.
The walk will end at the battlefield Memorial Stone off Salter's Road, Wallyford, in time for the annual commemoration ceremony of the battle, led by the Old Musselburgh Club.
Walking is mostly on paved footpaths, but includes a section of steep steps leading up to St Michael's Church, Inveresk.
This event is provided by the Pinkie Cleugh Battlefield Group.
Online booking for this event is now closed, however there are some spaces available. Please meet at the public car park beside Roman Bridge, The Mall, Musselburgh (opposite TESCO), at the junction of Mall Avenue and Inveresk Road, ready to start at 11am.
