European Tour Golf Futures Programme - S4/S5/S6 Pupils

 

The Golf Futures programme is a carers workshop ran by the European Golf Tour that will give pupils an insight into the many different career paths in the industry but also an behind the scenes tour of a major Golf event. It will allow pupils the opportunity to observe and participate in the many different roles involved in running Scotland's biggest Golfing event of the year.

What does the workshop look like? 

Careers Workshop and Task/Presentation by students – Tuesday 16th of April 1:30-4:30pm @ Meadowmill Sports Centre

  • Careers workshop at Meadowmill (All pupils schools will be informed that they are attending this just in case they need to get out of class early)
    • 1:30pm Start – 4:30pm Finish
  • In the workshop the Careers in Golf Programme Manager (Jack Cole) will go through all the different career paths that are available within the industry. This will also be attended by representatives from the R&A and Scottish Golf who are on hand to answer any questions.
  • The pupils will also have the opportunity to design and present their own Golf Tournament developing their presentation, budgeting and creative skills as part of the day.

 

Renaissance Club Tour – Friday 19th of April – 9.30am – 12:30pm

  • Meet at Renaissance Golf Club (Main Club House) at 9am (Parental lifts are needed for this, if this is a struggle please email back as we will try to find your child an alternative)
    • On the tour we will meet the Renaissance Golf Club General Manager and Staff
    • European Tour Championship Director
    • A tour of the Renaissance Club, discussing the different roles and opportunities involved in running this club including hospitality, tourism and catering sectors
    • Practical Session on the range with Renaissance Club Pro
    • Talk from the Greenkeepers on careers in their area

Scottish Open – Behind the scenes tour – Thursday 11th of July and Friday 12th of July - Date/timings to be confirmed - We will have behind the access to the Scottish open and the opportunity to see the work that happens to run a major sport event. 

This is a unique opportunity for you to visit a golf tournament and understand the many roles that are required to deliver one of the biggest events in the world.
