This is a three step process:

- At the appropriate time you will be emailed and asked to complete payment as appropriate. This completes the process.
East Lothian Council Sports Development, Secondary School Active Schools is moving our activity / group management to the SPOND APP
What does this mean for you and your child?
- Once registered for an ELC Secondary Active Schools or Active East Lothian Activity, your contact information, and child’s activity relevant medical information and emergency contact information will be uploaded to our East Lothian SPOND Club membership management system.
- This system is fully UK GDPR compliant and has been approved for use by ELC Information Governance and Information Technology Service.
Why are we doing this?
- A lot of Guardians/pupils already using the SPOND APP with community clubs.
- All ELC Active Schools and Sports Developments services and communications under one system, more efficient for pupils, Guardians and ELC Staff.
- Enhances our Team Managers / Coaches ability to manage teams / groups securely and in accordance with GDPR regulations.
- Allows instant digital registration at sessions so Guardians know if their child is in attendance.
- Only Authorised ELC Staff and (vetted) Volunteer coaches can access pupils Medical and Emergency contact information, as is currently the case with paper-based packs, though SPOND provides more security.
- Registers accessible off site in case of emergencies.
- Guardians and pupils will use one system to interact with ELC Sports Development and Active Schools Officers and Activity/Team coaches/deliverers.
- Allows ELC colleagues to act on each other’s behalf in times of illness/annual leave.
- To engage with the full range of benefits, i.e. view your child’s activity registration in real time, we recommend downloading the SPOND App to your mobile phone.
- Multiple Guardians can be added to the pupils account, so all guardians can access the information as required.
- Guardians can update the pupil’s information at any time.
- Guardians can add the pupil’s email to their account, allowing the pupil to respond to activity, training and match requests, Guardians can view and change these responses as required.
- All changes to session/match dates to times, or match information will be notified through SPOND.
- This system is fully UK GDPR compliant and has been approved for use by ELC Information Governance and Information Technology Service.
- Guardians can message other guardians or group administrators in the same group activity, but pupils can’t message anyone.
- Group Administrators can message group pupils and guardians via their desk top SPOND Club, or post in the group.
- Guardians will always see all messages sent to pupils.
- Group POSTS are like chat rooms on specific topics that ALL members of a group can see and respond to.
- The #1 app for coaches to communicate with parents
If you don’t download the SPOND APP, you will still receive limited emails about your child’s participation. However, we do recommend at last one Guardian to download the SPOND APP to benefit from all the functions.
Pupil and Guardian accounts will be deleted from the system when the pupil leaves school.
