East Lothian Archaeology & Heritage Fortnight 2025
Drem Airfield in two world wars: A walk with old photographs 2025
Part 1 – eastern part (Fenton Barns area)
Tuesday 2 September
10:00 – 11:30
Join Gullane and Dirleton History Society for a guided walk around the site of Drem Airfield. The airfield was actively used in both world wars, and some of the buildings erected are still in place. The walk will look at these extant relics and use old photographs to tell the airfield's military and civilian story.
Copies of George Simpson’s book ‘The Story of Drem Airfield’ will be available to purchase.
The walk will take place in two parts – Part 1 – eastern part (Fenton Barns area) on Tuesday 2 September and Part 2 – western part on Friday 12 September. Both parts of the walk need to be booked separately if you would like to attend both.
Suitable for adults, not accessible for wheelchairs. No dogs.
Free, booking required.
