East Lothian Archaeology & Heritage Fortnight 2025
The White Knight rides again 2025
Monday 1 September
5:30 – 6:30 pm
Antoine D’Arcy de la Bastie was the Captain of Dunbar Castle and arguably the most powerful person in Scotland by the Summer of 1517. But just months later, this dashing Frenchman was murdered, while trying to bring peace to the Lothians and Borders. For five hundred years, little more was heard of him – until 2024, when a local author reinvented him as the hero of a popular mystery series. In this talk A.K. Nairn will tell the true story behind ‘the White Knight’ and explain how (and why) he’s brought him back to life.
Event is Free but Booking required
