EVENTS FOR ADULTS
A series of wildlife and history themed events and walks aimed at adults who are interested in learning more about the history and natural history of East Lothian.
Costs are either £6.50 or £10 per person per activity depending on the length of the event. See each event for prices.
Walking boots are recommended, as well as waterproofs, hats and gloves.
As places are limited, bookings must be made prior to each and every activity.
February 24th 10:00-15:00 Coastal Wildlife
A 6-mile walk along the coast from Musselburgh to Longniddry exploring the internationally important wintering grounds for many species of waders and wildfowl. From Godwits to Goldeneyes and Redshank to Ruff, we will aim to spot the different species that over-winter along our coastline. Bring warm waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear, binoculars and a packed lunch.

Law to Law
March 31st 10:00-16:00 Law to Law
A 9-mile walk taking in the historic sites of Traprain Law, Hailes Castle and North Berwick Law. Uncover some of the stories surrounding this historic landscape, from the Iron Age to the present day. Bring warm waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear and a packed lunch.
Meet: North Berwick law car park NT 553 843. Transport will then be provided to the start of the walk at Traprain Law.
The Early Bird

Ever wondered how to tell a chiffchaff from a willow warbler; a song thrush from a blackbird? The secret lies in the wonderful world of birdsong, and this short walk around Gullane Bents will provide a taster for the rich and varied sounds produced by our native birds.

A 13-mile walk exploring the landscape and wildlife of the Lammermuir Hills. Look out for Golden Plover, Mountain Hare, Buzzard and the iconic Adder! Finish up for a drink at the Carfraemill Inn before returning by mini bus. Bring warm waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear and a packed lunch.

A stroll around John Muir Country Park to learn about the folklore and old uses of local flora. Discover how to prevent snake bites, heal wounds and stop hay fever using the Doctrine of Signatures!

Secrets of the Seashore

A rock-pool and sandy shore ramble to discover some of the species that inhabit the seashore and find out about their adaptations to this harsh environment.

Join the countryside ranger on a woodland walk to discover what fungi are, what they do and why they are so important.

Join us as we take a 4-mile stroll at sunset to watch geese arrive en-masse into their overnight roost, before we turn our attention to the nocturnal habits of a different type of roost dweller, bats!
