Active schools and East Lothian

Welcome to Ross High Sport!

SPOND UPDATE

East Lothian Council Secondary School Active Schools is moving to the SPOND App for activity and team management.

What does this mean for you and your child?

Once your child is registered for an East Lothian Council (ELC) Secondary Active Schools or Active East Lothian activity, your contact details, your child’s relevant medical information, and emergency contact details will be securely uploaded to our new membership system: East Lothian SPOND Club.

This system is fully UK GDPR compliant and has been approved by ELC’s Information Governance and IT Services.

Why are we making this change?

* Many parents and pupils already use the SPOND App with local community clubs.
* It brings all ELC Active Schools and Sports Development services into one system—making communication and management more efficient for pupils, parents, and staff.
* It helps Team Managers and Coaches manage groups securely and in line with GDPR.
* Digital registration at sessions means parents know when and where their child is attending.
* Only authorised ELC staff and volunteer coaches can access medical and emergency contact information—just like with current paper-based systems, but with improved security.
* Registers are accessible off-site in case of emergencies.
* Parents and pupils will use one system to communicate with Active Schools Officers, Sports Development staff, and coaches.
* ELC staff can support each other during illness or annual leave.

What do you need to do?

To get the full benefits, we recommend downloading the SPOND App to your mobile phone.

* Multiple guardians can be added to a pupil’s account, so everyone stays informed.
* Guardians can update pupil information at any time.
* You can add your child’s email so they can respond to activity, training, and match requests. Parents can view and change these responses as needed.

If you choose not to download the app, you’ll still receive limited email updates about your child’s participation. However, we recommend that at least one parent or guardian downloads the app to access all features.

When your child leaves school, their account and data will be deleted from the system.
